How I handle your information

Who is responsible

One Man One Stump is a sole trader business run by Andrew, and is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach me on 07971 053727 or at onemanonestump@yahoo.com. I work from home, so I don't publish a postal address, but I'll provide one on request.

Cookies

This site sets none. Nothing is stored on your phone or computer, so there's no cookie banner to click away. There is no advertising, no retargeting and no social media tracking on any page.

Visitor numbers

My web designer, littleoceans, runs Cloudflare Web Analytics on my behalf so I can see roughly how many people visit and which pages they read. It's a privacy-focused tool that doesn't use cookies and doesn't build a profile of you or follow you between websites. It reports totals, not individuals, and neither of us can identify anyone from it.

littleoceans hosts the site with Cloudflare, so Cloudflare briefly handles your IP address to send you the page and to block attacks. That is a normal part of how any website reaches you, and it isn't kept in a form that identifies you in the visitor figures.

The lawful basis for this is legitimate interests: knowing whether the site is working is a reasonable thing for a business to want, and it costs you no privacy to provide.

When you get in touch

There is no contact form on this site. If you call, email or message me on Instagram, I'll have whatever you send me, which is usually a name, a phone number or email address, the address of the job, and photos of the stump.

I use it to give you an estimate and to do the work. The lawful basis is taking steps to enter into a contract with you, and then performing it.

Who else sees it

• My email provider, because that's where your messages arrive.
• littleoceans, who built this site, host it and keep an eye on the visitor figures for me. They never see your enquiries.
• Cloudflare, who deliver the site to your browser.
• My accountant and HMRC, for invoices and records I'm legally required to keep.

That's the lot. I don't sell your details, share them with marketing companies, or add you to a mailing list.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don't turn into work get deleted within about a year. Records of jobs I've actually done are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they fall in, because HMRC requires it.

Your rights

You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it if it's wrong, or delete it. You can also object to how I'm using it. Just call or email and I'll sort it, normally within a month and at no charge.

If you think I've handled your information badly, please tell me first and I'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

If this page changes, the date below changes with it.
